Trendnet 300Mbps Wireless N Gigabit Router Review

Posted by izwan00 in September 23rd 2008

For a very reasonable price, the Trendnet 300Mbps Wireless N Gigabit Router (model TEW-633GR) has almost all the features you could want. But although the company went to the trouble of providing 4 Gigabit Ethernet wired ports, the router doesn’t support operation in the 5GHz band, which would let the wireless perform optimally. Still, if you’re not in an area crowded with other 2.4GHz wireless devices and you have no wireless G or B clients, the TEW-633GR is a competitive choice.

The installation procedure needs help, though. Among other annoyances, the wizard gave incorrect instructions and hung. Still, setting up wireless network wasn’t hard. Trendnet’s standard Web Based management screens were clear and intuitive.

Web Browser War Continue - Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2

Posted by izwan00 in September 12th 2008

The latest internet browser from Microsoft, Internet Explorer 8, brings out a number of great features, makes browsing the internet safer, easier, and wide compatibility.

From the looks of Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2, it seems to be a lot like Internet Explorer 7. However, Microsoft has added a number of changes. Most people already had seen some of these features in IE’s known rival, Mozilla Firefox 3.

Here are the features of Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2:

Tabbed Browsing
This is useful if you want to browse multiple website without opening a new Internet Explorer Window. Besides that, if you accidentally close the browser window in Internet Explorer 8, it will give you option to reopen (restore) the website or use Home Page in the next program launch. These features seem already available in Mozilla Firefox. But Internet Explorer 8 has added the features to group the similar tab (from the same website) together using color coding.

Another new features added to Internet Explorer 8 is tab isolation. This feature is developed to avoid the program crash from the buggy Web site. When Internet Explorer 8 encounter the buggy website, only the specified tab will close and this prevent you from information lose when browsing other website.

TechSmith SnagIt Version 9.0 Reviews

Posted by izwan00 in September 11th 2008

The most superior screen-capture program just got better. SnagIt version 9 maintains all of its predecessor’s basic (it can capture your whole desktop, parts of it, scrolling web pages, and even short videos) and adds up brand-new tricks.

A thumbnail organizer shows recent captures and allows you save them, organize them, and mark them for easy finding. You will be able to lookup by another data, too, such as the date or size of the capture.

Mixing multiple images is a breeze, and the utility’s revamped user interface makes commenting images is a cinch.

If you have not used SnagIt and want to capture screens, give it a try. Previous versions users will want this upgrade.

MSI Wind U90/U100 Reviews

Posted by izwan00 in September 11th 2008

While it may be true that today’s broadband technology is making hardware advantages not that “advantageous” (this broadband UK service for instance is found to make computers with lower specs to perform as well as its upgraded brethrens), having a snazzy looking, top of the line gear is still drool-worthy. MSI Wind is one of the few laptops that justify the benefits of having a powerful system.

It’s hard to one-up one’s rivals when the price of an ultramobile PC must fall within the $500 range to compete. But the MSI Wind has done just that, taking on the ASUS EeePC 900. The Wind doesn’t go out of its way to stand out from the crowd, but it’s still a toptier UMPC. The Wind comes complete with the Intel Atom platform, Windows XP Home Edition, and a very good user experience. The HP 2133 Mini-Note PC still has the upper hand in configuration options.

The Wind’s 10-inch screen is practival for both Web surfing and word processing. Its keyboard isn’t full size (92%), but it’s still bigger than the ASUS EeePC 900’s (84%). The mouse buttons, one the other hand, are tiny and narrow. As for internal components, MSI, for the most part, put in the right ones: an 80GB hard drive, three USB posts, a 4-in-1 media card reader (SD, MS, MS Pro, MMC), VGA-out, an Ethernet port, and a 1.3-megapixel webcam, as well as Bluetooth and 802.11g WiFi.
