There is one of the most important features of Vista (or Windows 7) that put Windows XP to shame – File Searches.

With Vista, you can search your files faster, because Vista indexed your entire computer file and its characteristic into database (it traverse all the directories first while you’re doing other things). But with Windows XP, the file search tool traverse all the directory at the same time when you are looking for a specific file, and it did it each time you searching for the same file and this make the process slow.

Fortunately, there are many alternative exist to accelerate Windows XP file searches. Two of my recommendation is to use Copernic Desktop Search or Google Desktop. Both tools has capability to index your e-mail messages, documents, MP3 files, images, and other content for lightning-fast searches. Besides that, it also let you quick look inside found files without opening them. That’s what we can call a good search tool!

Nokia released three new cell phone models, which is 6303 classic, 6700 classic, and the Nokia 2700.

Nokia is expecting cell phone sales will increase this year, due to large inventories build up by phone sellers at the end of last year and reluctance for consumers to buy new gadgets in the middle of economic recession.

The 6700 is the Nokia’s successor to its popular model Nokia 6300, which was one of the most top sales for many quarters. This model will have 5-megapixel camera, GPS navigation with Nokia Maps, metal keypad, and high-speed data access, priced at 235 Euros ($307.4).

On the other end is Nokia 2700, which is integrated with music player, expandable memory, and a 2.0-megapixel camera, which is priced at 65 Euros.

Nokia also unveiled the 6303 classic model, which is priced at 135 Euros. 6303 features a 302-megapixel camera, 2.2” screen, and comes with preloaded with Nokia Maps.

Intel plans to introduce its first eight-core Xeon processor and explain more details about its specification and technology. It will be held at International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) at San Francisco next month (February 9th).

The processor is to be likely the Nehalem EP processor, a 16-thread Xeon processor manufactured with a 45-nanometer process, which is designed for dual-socket workstations and servers.

As the other Nehalem processors architecture, Nehalem EP processors will use Intel’s Quick Path Interconnect (QPI) technology and enhanced with integrated memory controller, which have the capability to speed up overall computer performance by replacing front-side bus that allows more data flow between other components and the processors.

Nehalem EP processor is expected to be released in early 2009.

Western Digital finally released its long-awaited 2TB hard drive on Tuesday. WD will release the internal version first, and external version will come afterwards.

The new hard drive, called WD Caviar Green 2TB, is part of the company’s cool and quiet “WD Caviar Green” family. This hard drive family is also available in 1.5TB and 1TB versions.

“While some in the industry wondered if the end consumer would buy a 1 TB drive, already some 10 percent of 3.5-inch hard drive sales are at the 1 TB level or higher, serving demand from video applications and expanding consumer media libraries,” said Mark Geenen, president of Trend Focus, in a statement. “The 2 TB hard drives will continue to satisfy end user’s insatiable desire to store more data on ever larger hard drives.”

WD Caviar Green 2TB is designed with four-platter (500GB per platter) and offers a total of 32 MB cache used to increase throughput.

Western Digital also stated that the 2TB hard drive already available at selected resellers and distributors, priced at $290.00.
