Online file storage is a means for moving your digital photos, music, movies and projects off your computer via the internet to a remote storage facility, so you can access them from anywhere, share them with friends. Online file storage works by giving you and thousands of other people storage space on large internet servers. This storage is basically used as an extension to your local storage.
What is Egnyte?
Egnyte is an online file storage service that allows single user and/or company to share files between users. Egnyte is also called On-demand file server because the software is not actually installed at the user device, rather it is accessed via the Internet or any form of cloud computing. This service is used specially for small or medium sized businesses that are looking to expand their IT infrastructure without the needs to spend additional money on hardware and software.
Egnyte is very easy to use and have a user friendly interface. Once you registered for the service, Egnyte will provide you with a custom sub-domain to access your account (you can specify the sub-domain during the registration process).
One of the great features of Egnyte is Local Cloud file storage, which is called Egnyte Local Cloud (ELC). ELC is the ability to store the local copy of your files from Egnyte file server so you can access your file offline. With this functionality, you can access your file even when your internet connection is not available. Once your internet connection is restored, Egnyte will check for the modified file and synchronize it with the On Demand File Server while the old files are maintained for audit purposes.
