Microsoft plans to stop the Windows Live OneCare subscription-based service and introduce their new free security software for personal computers, codenamed “Morro”. This security system will be available in the second half of next year as free download and focused to protect personal computers from viruses, malware, spyware, Trojans and other security threats.
The advantage is, this system will provided for free and will used less resource, making it more compatible with older and slower computer, which make it useful for a wide group of consumers
The current Windows Live OneCare service, which costing $49.95/year, will be discontinues from June 30. Microsoft’s also said they would offer refund for customer who have already subscribed to their OneCare service.
Microsoft’s seems to be butting their heads at rivals Symantec, McAfee, Trend Micro and Kaspersky, which are leaders in PC security market.
